I must admit that I was quite nervous about having my 1984 Gibson SG Standard undergo a refret. But it was sorely in need of some attention, and Rob at Port Mac Guitars certainly gave me the confidence to go ahead with it. I wasn't disappointed. I recently got my 2 Fender road-worn series guitars serviced and PLEK’d by Rob. After I got the first one done by Rob ('63 Stratocaster re-issue) and got it home I just could not believe the difference; the guitar and action felt better than when it was brand new. I fell in love with the guitar all over again and I called Rob after playing for a couple of days to tell him how wrapped I was with the result and told him that he is a guitar-whispering fucking genius.

When I first took my treasured '97 Strat to Rob, correct intonation was impossible to acheive. The frets were worn wedges way beyond dressing, the board was warped, and the finish was worn to wood all along the edges. It was a nightmare to play. After a full Refret, a run through the PLEK and a lot of love from Rob, it is a totally different instrument. The board radius is perfect, the new bone nut is perfect, the oversized frets are perfect, and the "Nicotine Burst" lacquer job is stunning.
